The Shelby County Animal Shelter is an open admission shelter. They have to take every animal that comes to through their doors or is picked up by the Animal Control Officers. They do not have the ability to turn away animals when they are full, or when the animal is sick or injured. They cannot chose which animals enter their program.
The past TWO MONTHS has seen an influx of sick, tortured and injured animals.
The Shelby County No Kill Mission provides the medical care and treatments for these animals as long as there is money.
Due to the number of animals and the severity of the conditions, funds are extremely low.
We can't & won't turn our backs on those that have been tossed out/discarded and abused.
Please consider donating to help one of the recent needy ones that have entered the shelter. Every dollar helps!
Here are just a few that have come in that are receiving care thanks to the No Kill Mission.
Woodford, a 6 week old puppy suffering from dehydration, coccidia, colitis and a bacterial infection. He is requiring around the clock medical care by his foster mom who is a vet. He is receiving intravenous fluids, antibiotics and force feedings.
All of this care costs money.
The NKM also provides all routine vetting, spay/neuter clinic and antibiotics for the animals at the shelter.
We depend on the generosity of our supporters to continue providing care for these needy ones that have been discarded and abandoned.
Donations can be made via paypal - just click the "Donate" button!

All donations are tax deductible.
Thank you.
The No-Kill Mission started in 2008
with the goal to save ALL adoptable animals in Shelby County...
On May 27, 2009, through the hard work of all of its members, volunteers and community support, Shelby County celebrated its first anniversary of the last animal that was euthanized due to space.
In other counties, animals that are feral, sick or injured are considered unadoptable and are euthanized. In Shelby County, these animals are adoptable and deserve a chance. Through donations of time and money, these animals have been helped and have been successfully adopted!
